In Colombia, the common denominator of serial killers is that of poor people, abused, victims of abuse, beaten by relatives and humiliated, who discharge their frustrations on the weakest. "They are psychopaths, sociopaths, people who manipulate their victims, people who speak well, swindlers who are prone to crime, who lived in dysfunctional families."
Perhaps for a majority of Colombians the greatest murderer in the history is Luis Alfredo Garavito, also known by the alias of 'The Beast', who between 1992 and 1999 raped and murdered about 197 children in 11 departments of Colombia.
Unfortunately, 'monsters' like Garavito have been many in Colombia that shocked society incredibly, it is not the serial killer with more homicides in the history of Colombia.
The other criminals that caused terror in the country are:
This man, who set up a 'cambuche' in the Eastern hills of Bogotá, is accused of murdering nine women, who were homeless. He told the judicial authorities that, through offers of food and drugs, he invited the women to his 'cambuche' to ask for sexual favors. Then he killed them by suffocating them.
Little is known about Valencia, except that he came to the world of drugs after the death of his mother and a love disappointment. Although, he lived in a middle class family and did university studies, this guy, 34 years old, ended up on the street as a recycler.
For many criminologists and specialists in the profiles of serial killers, this man is considered the worst homicide in the history of Colombia. In a tour he did in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, he raped and murdered more than 300 girls. Part of his life he worked as a street vendor and belonged to an organization dedicated to the theft of vehicles
He had an IQ of 116 and spoke perfect English and Portuguese. It is estimated that he raped, tortured and murdered more than 157 women in a 20-year period. He had several sentimental relationships, but discovered that one of them was unfaithful, which woke up an irrational hatred of women, or misogyny.
His victims were men of high economic resources who he cheated. It is estimated that he murdered more than 20 men. The man posed as a recognized lawyer and managed to rub elbows with the Bogota aristocracy.
He worked as a pallet salesman, Manuel Octavio Bermúdez took advantage of his work to contact children in several regions of Valle del Cauca. In his file, there are violations and deaths of 20 children. After the death of his parents the child was adopted and because of his poor school performance he was beaten and punished constantly. During his youth he showed signs of homosexuality, but despite this, he lived with several women.
In the press reports it is found that he raped and killed six girls in Bogota, Suba -Rincón neighborhood. Apparently, he looked for and took the children to his home to rape them, then he cut them up and took them out on the street in bags
