Task 1: The chart below gives the data about sources of news taken by two groups of
people
The given bar chart compares and contrasts the data on the differences in the percentages of
people in both groups ( millennials and baby boomers ) who took the news from various sources.
It is clearly seen from the chart that TV and Search Engine Sites are two common sources of
news taken by two groups of people ( millennials and baby boomers). In addition, Social Media
Sites was another source of getting the imformation of younger people, while older groups chose
to use Print Newspapers.
According to the chart, the popular sources of news for both groups include TV, Search
Engine Sites, Social Media Sites, Print Newspapers. In detail, more people aged from 50 to 64
years old knew the news from TV than millennials, at nearly 70% and 50% respectively.
Besides, people in the age group (21-34) tended to use Search Engine Sites and Social Media
Sites to take the news, accouted for about 40%. By contrast, baby boomers chose to use Search
Engine Sites and Print Newspaper to get the information, with around 30%.
On the other hand, Online Newspaper Sites, online TV news Sites, Radio, Print Magazines,
online Magazines Sites and Online Radio Sites are the less suitable sources of the news for both
groups. In fact, this sources with the low percentages, accounted for under 20%.
Task 2: Some people think that family background is the key factor for children’s success,
while others claim that learning environment plays a more important role in their
outstanding achievement. Discuss both points of views and give your own opinion.
It is said that the background of the family is the major element for children’s success.
However, other people claim that learning environment plays a more significant role in their
outstanding achievement. This essay shall present these view points clearly before my own
opinion is given.
