Examination at the Iloilo Mission Hospital.
Saint Paul’s Hospital School of Nursing
(Manila, 1907) – Provided general hospital
services. Opened training school for nurses in
1908; Mother Melanie as superintendent and
Miss Chamber as Principals.
Philipine General Hospital School of Nursing
(Manila, 1907) – In 1906, Mary coleman
masters, avocated training Filipino girls for the
professin od nuring; she opened first a dormitory
for girls enrolled at the Philippines Normal Hall
and at UP
St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing (Quezon
City, 1907) – Opened with 3 girls admitted. Dr.
Jose Fores was the first medical director of the
hospital.
Mary Johnston Hospital and School of Nursing
(Manila,1907) – Sister Rebecca Parrish together
with RN Rose Dudley and Gertude Dreisbach,
organized the school. 3 filipino young girls fresh
from elementary as their first students.
The Start of Nursing Practice (1911-1921)
In 1919, First true nursing law was enacted
through act 2808. The first nursing board
Josephine Bracken - Wife of Jose Rizal; field
hospital in an estate house in Tejeros; provided
nursing care to the wounded night and day
Rosa Sevilla de Alvero – Converted their
house into quarters for the Filipino soldiers;
Philippine American war that broke our 1899
