Making Media is one of a few courses that I felt excited about since I could learn many new technical skills. My first assignment was about making a podcast. After many long discussions, my team finally came up with the idea of “Thrifting Culture in Vietnam”. That was the big idea and we decided to focus on the side of purchasing second-hand clothes since it is one of the effective solutions to tackle environmental pollution. Our podcast was about the relation between thrifting and the environment. At first, I did not feel so worried about doing this assignment because I thought recording and editing the audio would not be very difficult. Also, our process of writing the script and rehearsing went on very well. However, when we started recording, we all realized that here come our challenges. Firstly, we have problems with using the Zoom recorder, we could not find out how to avoid the background noise and the echo in our audio as well as create tone and mood in our voice. Secondly, we struggled editing on Audacity and Adobe Audition at the beginning although those apps are very user friendly. However, with the help of our beloved lecturer Justin and the staffs of the AV equipment room, together with the enthusiasm of our teammates, we finally managed to get through it. The podcast turned out to be better than our expectations and I felt so happy for that. Obviously, I could not accomplish this assignment alone. Therefore, it is such an honor for me to work with those amazing people who are extremely supportive and dynamic. They always showed up on time for every group meeting, working productively and are truly good friends. To conclude, through this assignment, not only have I experienced the process of producing a podcast but also figured out how serious it is the impact of the fashion industry on the environment.
