Another intern and I fused silk satin onto felt in East London.

We felted 48 pieces in about 3 hours.

I removed and re-beaded Swarovski crystals onto

interfaced silk.

Production

Spring/Summer 2009

A few toiles I

completed in Erdem’s

East London studio

For an introductory class, I studied

texture, color, silhouette and pattern to

create a style book displaying my

knowledge.

This is an example of one page that

displays color, proportion and

harmony.

I analyzed trends in fashion that helped

me to create the book.

Apparel Design

Analysis

Color: Color is the range of visible wavelengths from red to spectrum violet. This example shows many different colors in warm hues (reds, yellows, oranges). Yellow has the highest value, so physically this outfit reflects more light and makes the body stand out. Psychologically, the colors on this outfit make it loud and commands attention.

Harmony: Harmony is agreement in feeling, a consistency in mood, a pleasing combination of different things used in similar ways. This dress displays harmony to me because the function, structure and decorative design agree. The bright colors, ruffles, proportioned pattern, and light- reflecting texture complement each other. Psychologically, the feeling is feminine and graceful. Physically, the ensemble balances out the woman’s body and the soft motifs counter her slenderness.

Proportion: Proportion is a comparative relationship of distances, sizes, shapes, amounts, degrees or parts. For my example, the outfit operates with the part to whole ratio, which is 3:5; also known as the Golden Mean. Physically, the outfit is visually pleasing and balances out her body shape; with the definition of her waist, it makes her look slender as well. The proportions are appropriate to the functions of their objects, and suit the body divisions. Psychologically, this outfit is stable and exudes confidence.

Spring

Computer Aided

Design

for Apparel

This is part of an introductory CAD

project I presented to Target for the

young men’s department.

I gathered information and studied

trends to create a menswear line for

Spring/Summer 2007 using Adobe

Illustrator and Photoshop.

Computer Aided

Design:

Kaledo Style, print &

weave

In Kaledo Style I was able to create a croquis and

garments to map prints and weaves I created in

other Kaledo programs.

In these examples, I had to create, modify,

improve and color prints in Kaledo Print. I was

able to put the print in repeats to correct any

imperfections.

In Kaledo Weave, I was able to create knits from

different weaves and yarns and also apply my

color palette to personalize the prints.
