CHAPTER 4.................................................................................................................................

INTRODUCTION AND CONTEXT OF THE INTERNSHIP REPORT

1. SELF-INTRODUCTION

My full name is Phan Le Quynh, I was born and nurtured in Ho Chi Minh city and I’m currently a senior student of Faculty of Foreign Language in Industrial University from Ho Chi Minh city. Since I was young, I was taught that English was an indispensable factor in modern life, especially in today globalization, if I wanted to ensure my future career, I would have to be a master in using English. From that on, I decided to cultivate my English skill by learning and practicing as much as possible and pursue it as my major in university. As a result, after my best effort, I could be a student in Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh city. I love this language so much, so I always try my best to master it. At the beginning, it was quite difficult for me to catch up with the lessons, I had to take so much time to get used to the new knowledge and the pace of the program. In class, I learnt linguistic terms by investigating my English language proficiency. Majoring in English enables me to learn academic ideas about the English language, such as how to pronounce words correctly and how to break down language into its smallest components. English major has helped me understand linguistic and grammatical fundamentals so that I can use them in everyday situations. Now, I am working as a teaching assistant, but I am trying to be a teacher so that can apply everything I’ve learnt at school to my teaching career and inspire the students to learn English.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE INTERNSHIP From December 12th^ 2023 to February 15th^ 2024, I embarked on my internship course, which lasted for two months. Throughout this period, I had the opportunity to learn numerous invaluable techniques and acquire practical knowledge that went beyond what was taught in my university theory classes. Primarily, the internship period is a required module for English students before graduation. My performance, attitude, and productivity at the Internship Company, as well as the report, will be evaluated and contribute significantly to my final score with 5 credits. Secondly, the internship course offers the dual benefit of sharpening my competence and building character in the workplace, which are essential for job performance alongside academic qualifications. In addition, from the very beginning as a teaching assistant, I discovered a genuine passion for this job. I thoroughly enjoyed the curiosity and innocence of the children and found great satisfaction in utilizing my knowledge to educate them. Consequently, I dedicated myself wholeheartedly to this role for the duration of the two-month internship. In short, my intention was to test my abilities, assess my strengths and weaknesses, and gain insights into potential career paths after graduation. This internship has been an outstanding educational experience for me, exceeding my expectations in every way possible. Supervisor: Hồ Thị Hiền, M.A Page 6
