**Submit via Assignments Tab in D2L Brightspace
Essay Instructions: This assignment is the pre-write (first draft) for the final
research essay. This pre-write is to be from 600 to 800 words and include at
least two (2) academic sources that will be included in your final paper. You can
find a list of suggested topics on the next page that you may use for this essay,
but remember you do need to find proof that supports your thesis.
It is important to consider the rubric in your planning and writing. Remember
to look at what criteria I will be looking at in this pre-write and how much they
are worth.
Cited work/research is expected for this essay. Again, please use at least 2
sources that supports your thesis: 1 must be academic.
Create an MLA “first-page” (see Brightspace resources: “MLA first page” and
“creating an MLA page header in Office Word”) and use basic MLA formatting
(e.g., double spacing, Times New Roman with 12” font)
Please do not use first person pronouns. This is a research essay and
therefore you will need to cite academic sources to support your thesis
statement.
See rubric below for marking scheme.
□ Create unique title (linked to thesis but not the same)
Brief introduction that includes the thesis statement
Draft body paragraphs that each include different sources to support
your thesis
MLA first page, formatting, and Works Cited page without error
.
