Question 1: 25 Marks Compare the building materials which were used 5000 -3000 BC (approx) with the building materials used today. Compare their qualities and usability in building large structures.
Question 2: 25 Marks Describe the different types of Greek Columns. Where can you find examples of them today? Or Vitruvius, the Roman architect wrote books on how to build. In Book 2 he talks about building materials. He mentioned Pozzolana. What is Pozzolana and for what is it used?
Questions 3: 25 Marks Explain in detail the structural elements which you find in a Gothic cathedral. How was it possible to build such high structures? Use one of the famous cathedrals in both France and Germany to illustrate your points.
Question 4: 25 Marks Give a short overview of the history of the Bauhaus movement. Explain the philosophy behind the movement.
