A rock is dropped at the same instant that a ball, at the same initial elevation, is thrown horizontally. Which will have the greater speed when it reaches ground level?

Who will touch ground first, ball or rock?

The ball will have the greater speed. Both the rock and the ball will have the same vertical component of the velocity, but the ball will have the additional horizontal component.
